How Much Does a Dumpster Rental Cost in Massachusetts?

A dumpster rental in Massachusetts runs $495–$705 flat with us: $495 for a 10-yard, $599 for a 15, $705 for a 20 — each including 3 days, delivery within 20miles of Tyngsborough, and a built-in weight allowance. What moves the number anywhere in the state: size, weight, rental length, what you're tossing, and distance.

Those are our real, current rates — the same ones on our pricing page and at checkout — not teasers. Here's the full picture of what a dumpster costs in Massachusetts, what's actually inside a flat rate, and the add-ons to ask about before booking with anyone, including us.

What do dumpster rentals cost?

Size3-day rental7-day rentalOpen-endedIncluded weight
10 yard$495$535$495 + $16/day after day 31 ton
15 yard$599$639$599 + $16/day after day 31.5 tons
20 yard$705$745$705 + $16/day after day 32 tons

Statewide you'll see quotes above and below these numbers. Some of that spread is honest — disposal costs and drive times differ across Massachusetts — and some of it is how much of the real cost a company shows you up front. That's what the rest of this guide is for.

(Not sure which size you need? The sizing guide settles it in two minutes.)

What's included in a flat rate?

With us, the flat price covers delivery and pickup within 20miles of Tyngsborough, your choice of 3-day, 7-day, or open-ended rental, the weight allowance in the table above, disposal at our licensed transfer station, and wood placed under the wheels to protect your driveway. When you're comparing companies, that list is the checklist — a "cheaper" dumpster that includes less isn't cheaper.

What can add to the cost?

  • Weight over the allowance — billed at $0.13 per pound off the transfer-station scale ticket. Real math: 500 pounds over is $65, not a mystery invoice. This is the number that matters most on dense loads.
  • Extra days — open-ended rentals run $16/day after the included 3 days. Two extra days on a bathroom demo: $32.
  • Massachusetts Waste Ban items — mattresses and box springs, TVs, refrigerators, freezers and A/C units, propane and helium tanks, and tires carry per-item state-driven handling fees. The current item fees are listed on the pricing page.
  • Heavy materials— dirt, concrete, and shingles in bulk are priced as their own load type, because the disposal economics are different. Say what you're tossing when you book and the quote will be right the first time.
  • Distance — beyond our 20-mile radius, delivery adds $5 per mile.
  • Street permits— if the container sits on a public way, most towns charge a permit fee they set themselves; on your own driveway there's no permit at all.

Why do quotes vary so much between companies?

Because "a dumpster rental" isn't one product — it's a bundle of container, days, weight, and disposal, and every company slices the bundle differently. Before you book with anyone, ask five questions: Is delivery included? How many days? How much weight is included, and what's the overage rate? Are there fuel, environmental, or admin fees on top? And what happens if there's a mattress in the load?

A lower headline price with a small weight allowance and add-on fees can invoice higher than a bigger flat rate. We publish every number on one page on purpose — the quote is the price.

How do you keep the cost down?

  • Right-size it the first time. A second haul costs more than the next size up ever would. The sizing guide exists for exactly this.
  • Keep yard debris separate. Brush, branches, and leaves run as their own material stream — mix them into a junk load and the whole load bills at the higher mixed rate.
  • Respect the scale on dense loads. Concrete, dirt, plaster, and wet material hit the weight allowance long before the walls. Book heavy loads as heavy loads.
  • Load level, stop at the rail.Overfilled containers can't legally be hauled, and sorting that out mid-driveway costs time.
  • Driveway beats street. No permit, no town fee, no waiting on paperwork.
  • Plan your days honestly. If the project might run long, open-ended from the start beats scrambling on day 3.

When is a dumpster bag the cheaper call?

For small, slow projects, our dumpster bag runs $65 for the bag (shipped free across New England) plus pickup starting at $285 with 1,000 pounds included — and no rental clock at all, so it can sit in the driveway for a month while you fill it. Once volume or weight climbs past a closet cleanout, the 10-yard takes over on price per pound. Details on the dumpster bag page.

FAQ

Are there hidden fees?

No — and here's the honest version of that answer: the add-ons that exist are published before you book. Overage at $0.13/lb, $16/day past the included 3, per-item Waste Ban fees, and mileage past 20 miles. All of it is on the pricing page; nothing appears for the first time on an invoice.

Do you charge for delivery?

Delivery and pickup are included within 20miles of Tyngsborough. Beyond that it's $5 per mile.

How much does going over the weight limit cost?

$0.13 per pound, straight off the transfer-station scale ticket — 200 pounds over is $26.

Do prices change by town?

Our flat rates are the same across the service area. The only distance factor is the $5/mile past the 20-mile radius; the only town factor is a street permit if the container can't go in the driveway.

Is junk removal cheaper than renting a dumpster?

They're different labor models: a dumpster means you load it over days; junk removal means our crew loads it now, priced by how much of the truck you fill — starting at $165 for a small load. If you'd rather not lift anything, that's the one. Rates are on the junk removal page.
