Where to donate, before you book a haul-away
Some of what comes out of a cleanout is still worth something to somebody. This is the referral list the Town of Tyngsborough publishes, so you can make that call before the truck arrives rather than after.

Why a usable one has a route a broken one does not
This is a disposal-ban question before it is a charity question.
Massachusetts bans mattresses and textiles from disposal. That is why the Town of Tyngsborough cannot collect either one in the trash, and why its textile route goes to a donation organisation instead of a landfill. The ban is about the material, not the condition.
So the split is practical rather than moral. A usable mattress has a donation route. A soiled or broken one does not, and it becomes a handling item with a fee attached. That is worth sorting out before booking anything, because it changes what the job costs.

What happens to the usable things we load
The short version, with no names attached to it.
Where an item we pick up is in usable condition, it is routed to a local nonprofit rather than landfilled. We are deliberately not going to name which one took what. Doing that would imply a standing arrangement, and we would be describing another organisation's decisions for them.
If donating it yourself is the plan, do that first and call us for the remainder. If it is easier to have the whole room go at once, that is what a cleanout is: estate cleanouts, move-out cleanouts, basement and garage cleanouts, or furniture removal for a single piece.
Questions people actually ask
Do you donate the items you pick up?
Where an item is in usable condition, yes — it goes to a local nonprofit rather than to a landfill. What we will not do is tell you which organisation received your particular sofa, because we are not going to speak for a nonprofit or imply an arrangement we do not have.
Is it better to donate or to have it hauled away?
Donate it if it is usable and you have the time to arrange the handover. Donation takes a phone call, a scheduling window and sometimes a photo approval. A haul-away is one appointment and everything goes at once. Neither is the right answer for every pile.
Why does a mattress get treated differently?
Because Massachusetts bans mattresses and textiles from disposal, so a mattress cannot simply go in with the trash. A usable one has a donation route. A soiled or broken one does not, and it becomes a handling item with a fee attached rather than a straight disposal.
Will a donation organisation take anything?
Ask them, not us. Condition standards, what categories they are accepting this month and whether they collect are each organisation's own business, and they change. The contact details above are what the Town of Tyngsborough publishes; the answer has to come from the organisation.
What if only some of it is donatable?
That is the normal shape of a cleanout, and it does not need solving in advance. Set aside what you want to donate and we will take the rest — the usable items in what we load still get routed to a nonprofit rather than landfilled.
