In Tyngsborough everything goes to the curb, and anything extra needs a sticker
Collected by Republic Services under contract to the town. Trash weekly on Monday; recycling every other Monday. Since January 2025 the recycling schedule has been organised by side of the bridge, so the week that applies depends on the address. The red trash cart goes out by 6:30 am, at least three feet clear of obstructions, with the lid fully closed and nothing hanging out. A holiday in the week pushes collection back by one day.
The part that costs money
Bulky items are collected separately from the weekly cart and require a bulky item sticker. Trash that does not fit in the cart needs an overflow sticker on each bagged item. Stickers are bought at the Board of Health Office or online and are mailed to the resident, so they have to be in hand before the collection day they are meant for.

What the town does not say about renovation debris
The town publishes a bulky-item sticker for furniture and similar household items, and names no route for construction or demolition debris. It does not say that such debris is refused either. We are not going to resolve that in writing on the town's behalf: ask the Board of Health before loading a renovation into anything.
A sticker system is built for the things a household replaces one at a time. It is not built for the volume a gut job produces, which is the gap a container fills whatever the answer on debris turns out to be.
The Recycling Center takes streams, not loads
At the Highway Department. The scrap metal bin is available to residents 24/7. Fluorescent bulbs and mercury-bearing products go in the shed rather than any bin. Cardboard is flattened into the dumpster, and a second cardboard dumpster sits in the Middle School lot on Norris Road.

Town of Tyngsborough, Recycling Center
Mattresses and textiles are a state rule, not a town preference
Massachusetts law requires mattresses and textiles be kept out of the trash, so the town cannot collect them. Textiles go to HELPSY under a town agreement: free curbside pickup, a bin at the Recycling Center on Kendall Road, and one in the Middle School lot on Norris Road.

Event days
Zero Waste Day runs the first Saturday of May and November, 9 am to noon. Household Hazardous Waste Day is 17 October 2026, 9:00 to 12:30 at the DPW. The town publishes the location with each event and it is not always the same place — two town pages give different Zero Waste Day locations, the DPW at 89 Kendall Road in one and the Elementary School at 205 Westford Road in the other. Check the town's posting for the event you are attending rather than trusting either address.
