Westford has no facility of its own — the drop-off is in the next town
Westford residents register with the Groton Transfer Station for permission to drop off certain recyclables. The registration is Recycling Only, and the town is explicit about what it does not buy: it does not grant access for bulky plastic, scrap metal, electronics or trash. That is the drop-off route the town publishes, and it is in the next town.
What the registration does not cover:
- bulky plastic
- scrap metal
- electronics
- trash

That facility is Groton Transfer Station & Recycling Center, and it has its own stickers, its own bag rules and its own fee items. What a Westford registration buys there is the recycling half of it and nothing else.
The sticker, and the sentence inside it
Burnable items under 50 pounds that one person can load are collected on the regular day with a bulk waste sticker bought from the Town Clerk. One item per household per week. The town states that the fee does not cover the full cost of disposal.

Construction waste, up to a line the town draws
Westford's bulk waste sticker covers what the town calls Burnable Construction Waste, and the town writes the limit into the same line: small home-improvement amounts only, not large amounts from major construction. So a bathroom's worth of old trim goes out on a sticker, and a gut job does not. The town also says plainly that the bulk item fee does not cover the full cost of disposal, which is the reason the limit exists.
The town's own limit: small home-improvement amounts only — not large amounts from major construction.
That limit is the whole answer for anyone tearing something out. A sticker is built for an item a week; the material a gut job makes in a morning is what the town says the sticker is not for, and it is the gap a container fills.
What goes out how
- Curbside trash and recycling. Pay-as-you-throw since 6 July 2026, collected by E.L. Harvey & Sons under contract to the town. Eligible households, including multifamily properties of up to three units, received a 35-gallon trash cart; trash inside that cart is collected weekly at no charge and extra trash needs PAYT overflow bags. Recycling is free and unlimited in any container. Everything out by 7:00 am. source
- Heavy items, appliances, bulk metal and CRTs. Burnable items over 50 pounds, appliances, bulk metal and cathode ray tubes are not sticker items. They are collected by E.L. Harvey & Sons, the town's contracted hauler, on its own fee schedule. source
- Mattresses, box springs and textiles. Banned from the trash and from the incinerator under MassDEP rules, and bulk stickers are no longer accepted on them. A curbside mattress collection service is available instead. source
- Electronics — two Saturdays a year. Fee-based collections in spring and autumn at the Westford Highway Garage. The town publishes the garage address two ways — 28 North Street on one page and 28 North Main Street on another — so check the posting for the collection you are attending rather than either address here. source
The mattress and textile rule is the Massachusetts disposal ban rather than a Westford decision. What Massachusetts bans, and where New Hampshire differs.
We publish no sticker price or trip fee for the Groton facility on this page, and no hauler price either — E.L. Harvey & Sons is the town's contractor and its schedule is its own. Everything above is Westford's, and Westford's pages govern it.
